| A simple wire pattern ring. It's light, thin, and sturdy to wear. It fits comfortable over the fingers while working. It does not bang into anything. It's fine sterling silver at .999, which means its super dead soft. The demo is size 8, this ring is for sale in catalog. It can be made for any size desired. | FL004 | | The Kheper Project It's an inspired theme from Ancient Egypt. If you haven't figured it out yet, I love egypt. This project has various methods in it, two major ones are casting and fabricated all 7 parts together. The center piece, the body of the scarab was made from wax and used wax lost process. I spent 15 hours of carving, the body measures 2inches long. Everything else was cut by hand, filed, sanded, polished, and finally soldered. There are at least 15 soldering points. The body is solid silver, which means it takes longer for it to get hot then the legs. The body was extremely burnt on the surface by the time the legs were able to be soldered on with the bezel (which was the last step). Like the egyptian scarab, it holds the sun on the top and the moon on the bottom. In this case, its a black opal representing the sun and the silver disc represents the moon. This project is not for sale. However, there is a bid on it that starts at $380.00. It's all solid sterling silver and weights approx 45 pennyweights. Measures approx 3 and 1/2 inches long and 2 inches wide. | FL005 | | A ring found in the wax box of collections that was given to me. For my love of Egpt, I had to fire up this ring. It's a little bulky, but considering the time period, bulky rings were the fashion over 10 years ago. It's Egyptian themed ring. It's got a scarab on the top with excellent fine details and a beautiful wide wire pattern ring. Accidents do happen. This was not an error of not enough silver grains for the "lost wax" process. I forgot about the age factor of silvers. Over time, the alloy of materials tend to change either through simple age, or because the alloy in itself has changed over time. The sterling silver from 15 years ago may not have the same alloy mix and concentration as the sterling silver does today. I used old sterling silver and new sterling silver and mixed it together, fired it together...and in return this is what happens when its not done evenly with the old and new silver grains. The scarab on the ring is being saved into another project. The fans on the bottom did not come out, they've been filed off and the scarab itself is perfect and a large piece of the band is perfect. The scarab will be fabricated onto another project. I do have more of these rings. In sterling silver the price would be $70.00 USD. | FL006 |
